I have a problem with the vacuum pump system for boot closure etc on my s class. I have searched past topics but this problem hasnt been covered. The mercedes service centre say the pump control unit is faulty (big bucks!). I understand the unit works door locks as well but these are working OK. Does the unit fail on some of the curcuits and not others, meaning its the control curcuits rather than the pump itself. I'm concerned that it may just be leak on the particular line for the boot closure system and the pump replacement may be unesessary and wont fix the problem. I can live without the boot closure for now but will the unit fail completely eventualy. Also can these units be repaired/recon either DIY or professionally. Hope you can help.
Thanks

This might be the answer....:D

Check fuse # 62 @ rear fuse box, behind rear footwell illumination lamp (nearside I think)
