S-Reg A160 Fuel Filter Removal Issue

I have just been looking at the fuel filter on my A160 as it needs replacing and can see how to remove the various hoses without much issue. However, the problem comes when I look at the fuel filter itself. Mercedes have designed a clever plastic bracket to hold the filter but since the fuel tank almost butts up to this there is no space to actually remove the filter!

Please can someone advise how exactly I can remove this!?

Many thanks, Frustrated Jon!

Hi
This is also a good time to check/change the flexible hoses and clips.
Are you getting any smells of petrol in the car ?

Thanks very much! Was thinking first of just pulling it but the fuel tank seems to sit within about 20mm of the filter and was concerned the plastic would break if i pulled it much more! I would be greateful for your thoughts!

Thanks mattkh. I haven't noticed any smells in the car but will have a good look at the hoses next time I'm down there and check on their condition! Think I'll have to replace the clips anyway as they look like thier only designed for single use! Was hoping for some nice jubilee clips!
