S Reg Vito 108d making horrendous noise

Hi, newbie here,
I've just started getting a really loud noise from my van, at first I thought it was the exhaust but now i'm unsure, when I accelerate it becomes really loud, like a loud tappety noise, but as loud as it would be when the exhaust has blown, now the reason i'm not sure whether it's the exhaust anymore is because once i've finished accelerating the noise completely goes, i'd expect to still hear a blowing noise... Maybe i'm wrong, but hopefully someone can help, I really need the van to travel home for christmas tomorrow, what a nightmare...

Could be number of things Kev, could be a blocked cat, you could have a injector seal blown, cracked manifold, from what i know about the vito i would guess a injector seal blowing, welcome to the site Kev!

Think i'm gonna have to get the train and try and sort it when I get back, what a pain... I might take it to the garage early in the morning and see if they can identify the problen for sure.. Can't believe it, i've just packed it all up ready for my 300 mile trip, went to pick the missus up, and this happens...

Can you pin-point where the noise coming from, ie engine, under the van????
