1992 S124 Diesel with the following issue.
Select D gear engages, after pulling away the are two quite fierce gear changes with quite a thud within a few seconds of each other. The car then fails to gain speed as would normally be expected. Whilst moving if I move from D to 3 the car will change gear and I can accelerate. The back into D from 3 there is quite thud as gear engages.
Can stationary, select 2 and car will move fine, then moving from 2 to 3 and then from 3 to D the gears all engage but with a thud.
The car will not change gear when accelerator pedal is pressed all the way down as is usually expected.
I hope this makes sense and someone can help solve this.
