S203 220CDI Estate - one ignition key not recognised

Hi,

I've two original keys, my wife's one is totally fine, but mine has started to play up recently, and intermittently not be recognised by the ignition socket. Taking it out and reinsterting a few seconds later usually sees it working again. Remote functions are fine. Do I need a new key?
