S205 C Class Estate Roof Bars

I want to buy some roof bars for my S205 2015 C Class Estate
Genuine Mercedes bars cost £200. (Part Number A2058900193)
I can buy other makes on Ebay or Halfords for around £100.
Obviously I want a roof bar system that is going to be secure and also easy to take on and off without damaging the car.
Any views or should I stay safe and stick to Merc brand.
Annoyingly I was give some Merc bars for the saloon A205 ( part Number A2058900093) but they are not compatible and you cannot buy adapters

Before you get shot of the A205 bars, give Roland at Exeter roof racks a call, he will know if there is a foot kit that fits the bars you have. 01392 444482

Thule are a modular system comprising bars, transition piece and foot kits. The foot kits fit the bars in the same way, the other end is how they attach to the car. Sellers of Thule bits tend to go by the document with the box, not what the parts actually are. If the document says x car, then that is as far as they think to make a sale, or not.

The Thule site says you need the Rapid System 753 that sits below the bar in the slot in the bottom outer edge of the bar. To that attaches a Kit 4055 which is the foot kit that connects to the car.

A standard Aero bar, or Wing bar; bare in mind the latest greatest bit of kit is what they want to sell you, will fit with a foot kit.

I have Wing bars bought off Gumtree brand new in box for £50 with a foot kit from Tredz. Try Gumtree for what is available

I have an old Halfords roof box that does not fit the aero bars.
My choice is to buy wider 'U' fittings and drill new holes in the box or buy 'T' fittings.
I can easily get 90mm 'U' fittings but not sure which 'T' fittings to buy

View attachment 49983 View attachment 49984 I have these in the garage, Mercedes ones bit too small for my S211. They are adjustable a bit and have two keys, fit on the rails of the estates. They are used but work. Don’t have the rubber inserts for the top of the bar but £40 if any good to you.
