I'm hoping someone can help.
My above car , which I've owned for 5 years now.....
The radiator fan has never come on - Ever..
Is this a common problem or an easy fix?
Any suggestions much appreciated....Thank you.
It generally runs around 80 degrees C....On a hot day or slow in traffic it can go up to nearer 100 degrees.
I'm sure the fan should cut in by then!

I thought the fan on the OM613 is a viscous type and is mechanically driven by the auxiliary drive belt it may just need replacing

If I hold down the 2 auto buttons on the climate control for 10+ seconds the fan will come on.
It seems to stay on til I hold down the same 2 buttons for 10+ seconds.
I'm guessing the fan is fine but it's not getting the signal to come on at a specific temperature- whatever that is.

The fact that you can get the fan to run on your odd climate control method suggests the wiring to, from switch is sound. Go for switch.

Its a variable speed fan. It will turn on when the ac is (on slow speed) but otherwise, will likely not run unless your watching it idle for ages. As its variable speed, you will likely not hear it in the car. Does the car overheat?

The car does not overheat.
I did wonder if it is coming on and I'm just not noticing....I'll try watching it on idle and see if it comes on,,,,.Thanks.
The ac doesn't work - I had it gassed once but it doesn't hold it....This seems to shut down the ac compressor - It doesn't turn even if the ac is switched on.....The time I did have it regassed I had to disconnect the battry to reset/get the ac compressor running again.
I will also watch the fan with the ac on - see if it runs at low speed..
Thank you....I'll report my findings.;)

Ah...You're suspicions are correct:geek:.
I'm a numpty.o_O.
On idle the fan does eventually come on - slow......on and off repeat. - no chance of hearing it.
AC on - no fan.....I think this is correct as , the gas is lost so the AC shuts down...
With both Auto buttons held down for 10 seconds + the fan comes on fast - can just about hear it from inside the car and the temperature gauge falls rapidly..
I think it's all working fine.
Thank you for all suggestions.
