Hello All, first time poster ( just joined). Hoping somebody can assist.
I have an E320 S211 2004 and the suspension has dropped ( rear)
Had it diagnosed as a faulty valve on air compressor. I bought a new valve block and took it back to garage. Garage inform me that this model doesn't have a separate valve block as it's not the 4matic version. Therefore, the faulty valve is on the compressor itself and I will need a new compressor. Just wanting to check that this is correct?
Thanks

Welcome
Not convinced that's correct, the valve blocks are sold separately, 4matic in the UK on a 2004 car would be highly uncommon! That said, you can buy the package....

or just the valve block....
Suspect the package is the best value

I suspect the ones you list are for a car with full airmatic rather than the more normal rear only air suspension found on E Class estates (S211 in this case).
They have 5 connections which to me looks like an inlet and 4 outlets, one for each wheel.

Thanks for your replies, I think I have worked it out, the s211 only has self levelling suspension and therefore doesn't have a valve block. The compressor feeds the "air springs" directly without the need for extra valves.

I had an S211 but never had a rear air suspension issue so didn't have to investigate it so I don't know if there is a valve block.
I have an S212 now and have had problems and replaced the air suspension units. When i was investigating the issue I checked the air lines and I can confirm that there is a valve block on the S212. It has one inlet pipe and two outlets, one for each side.

Does your pump run?
It is situated on the passenger side behind the wing liner on the S211.

I understand that they might actually run but not generate adequate pressure.
They are repairable - see bagpipingandy.com.

Thanks for the message, my garage said they couldn't find a valve block ( apparently they did trace the air pipes from compressor onwards) I have bitten the bullet and bought one air spring as rear passenger sags all the way down but rear driver only sags a little( although this does seem to be getting worse). The compressor kicks in and re inflates both sides once I start the car. I will probably buy a second air spring for rear drivers side, once the other has been fitted and I can see the results. Thanks again

NB, garage said that the air pipe left the compressor and then connected to a T piece, each side of the T fed each air spring at the rear. Pretty sure they said it wasn't a "valve" - just a normal T connector.

If each side is deflating at different rates, I would suspect the air bags (or the air line leading to them).

The air bags are probably the originals so are 16 or 17 years old.
They are just rubber cylinders with air under high pressure. They perish and crack which is exacerbated when they deflate and crease.
