I checked the wires at the amplifier end, no live on the red/yellow cable, grey / yellow but live on the pink/blue with radio on.
So unbolted the dvd / rear sam and followed the wires and pulled out the green plug which is right behind the big black plug on the sam.
Using a multimeter I checked the wires for breakage. I found out that there was no continuity on the red/yellow cable. So I pulled at the red /yellow cable and it just kept on coming? It was broke just behind the central locking pump, tell tale signs were dry corrosion on the black wrap covering the loom. I cut a slit in the covering and found the other broken side and soldered the wires back together. I have covered it with insulation tape and new black clothwrap so it looks as per factory.
As well as my remote working my radio also switches on faster and medium wave etc work.
Thanks for your help.
'Whiteshj' good luck with your fix. Must be same problem as Ian and mine.
Thats exactly the same problem on my car
why on earth in that part of the loom a wire can break and all the others look ok
and it was the same wire the red/yellow
and i pulled it and it came out.
Can anyone tell me how remove that panel above the side boot window in the least destructive way possible? I had a go at it but don't want to use brute force in case I break something.
On the bright side, wiggling the panel has fixed the problem. So need to get in there to permantly fix the dodgy connection.
