Great work! Apologies. I just found it on AT and sent the link

Cheers.... That's all I seem to be doing for the past week... Check AT, check BCA, check motors.co.uk ...

I spoke to the dealer today.. he'll give the car a service, put new brake pads on if they're below 50% ( which i said they would be on 50k miles)

They haven't got the facility to update digital service record so it'll be physical paperwork, I'll get the book stamped if the cars still come with that...

I was hoping to test drive the car today but they only just recieved it in the showroom yesterday, it won't be ready for a test drive for another 3-4 days until all the work is carried out...

I would ask to drive it, tell the dealer to leave the service etc and discount the car then take it to @star for a full service and checkover

Uneven wear on all the 4 tyres, inside of all the tyres close to legal limit as per mot advisories, is missing 3rd service.. I don't understand why people don't spend 200 quid on servicing a car that they paid near enough 40k for not that long ago... Private seller don't know/won't share any info regarding how much life left on brake pads other than they're fine... My suspicion was that car may have been driven hard for only the insides of the tyres to go at 20k and this behaviour may have had adverse effect on the brake discs, pads. Also no guarantees at all due to private sale.. so decided against making b the 3-4 hour journey to view it..

Tyres will be tracking, Wheels In Motion will sort that. When I bought my W204 privately I did my due diligence and when viewing the car pointed out some bits and negotiated the price down accordingly.

At 21k I would be expecting to put a new set of tyres on

Service, Tracking and Tyres is a min £1k off the asking price

I'm with Mr Bell, here. Don't like services done by someone who can't keep the digital record updated - they aren't MB specialists.

Smart + others :)
If the service is being carried out by the sellers garage, who knows what standard the parts are ( possibly cheapest ) and what will be done (possibly the min) ??? Or they might be brilliant???

Very good point, I agree with you too... Just now I've found another one with driver assistance package at a Merc dealer, it's £750 more than this one but only 12k miles in comparison to this cars 50k...

It's an Ex fleet car and 12k in 3 years... Should both of these points be a cause for concern??

Didn't think of this.... they won't have much incentive to be using OEM equivalents... It'll ask be about cost savings... Thanks

Sounds low... depends upon the lease it was on and how it was used. Some unscrupulous drivers have been know to “mileage correct” on a regular basis to keep the numbers down for the lease...
It can be found out as there are many modules in the car that store the mileage...

If this low mileage car is being sold by a mercedes dealer the mileage will be warrantied. You will also have a Mercedes approved car warranty and it will have been over-serviced as opposed to having a missing service on the high mileage car. +30000 miles is also a significant amount and has a value when you come to sell the car.

Jump at it, just emphasises the point of being patient and taking your time, mileage and provenance will be warranted

Thanks, how might I go about discovering if it's been fiddled?

in all probability it will be an ex MB fleet car, it’s certainly worth asking MB the owner history. It makes a change for MB to be selling secondhand well specced cars nowadays they used to be poverty spec in the main the rest went to auction. No doubt this is due to the packages on offer when the car is ordered new so win win

And you may be able to get the price down a little so negating the extra money, £750 is not much for 40k less miles from a merc dealer

False dawn... Close but no doughnut etc etc etc...

the car has everything rise except the driver assistance package.. from the photos it looked like it did but they've triple checked and it hasn't

Back to the 50k miler for now

That is a shame

Why is the Drivers Assistance package a deal breaker???

The 50k miler is way overpriced IMO
