Have a lovely S213 E220d which has been pretty faultless with 81k miles and 56MPG.

Car often left for a week and after a very cold night noticed o/s rear was low (often a bit low) on leaving home it started to read Malfunction with the Car and Up Arrow symbol. Drove about 80 miles no real problem except noticed suspension harsh.

Seems o/s rear is the low one - a colleague has a code reader so can check it on that -dont recall hitting anything

Cant hear the compressor working and ride height at front ok - lowish at back -is there a Fuse I should check first ?

Ideas welcome

The early S213 suffered from water ingress into the air pump electrics leading to failure so checking that would be my first course of action some were changed under warranty

Thanks for this - I took your advice and it seems the fuse has blown due to a tiny amount of water in the air line. I changed fuse and it seems OK - Possibly the really cold night made the damp air in the pipe get to the compressor and it froze blowing the fuse. When the compressor/pump runs you can see slight movement. Definately no leaks though. I'll see how it goes and if it blows again I will remove pump and have a look

Thanks for advice...

Might be worth looking at the air pump inlet filter it might need replacing it was never apparent what the problem was with the earlier pumps failing and MB didn’t enlighten anyone regarding the reason it may in fact be water getting past the filter

Great tip thank you - I imagine a Merc parts store would have a filter.

I thought this was a great video of an air compressor strip down - BMW but the principle is the same:
