hi guys, im struggling with my car. I got some crazy problems with my mercedes. Please if any one can help!

I turned my car on and comes up with an esp/ abs fault. I put into D and tried to drive but it was as if it was dieing hardly moving, tried to put it into P but it did not go into P only neutral and drive. Doesn't allow me to put it into reverse or park. I turned the car off and waited after 5mins tried again same problem. The car was in neutral so i pushed the car back few metres and then started it and car was ok i was about 80 miles away from home and got home with no problem. Once i reached home i turned it off and started it to see if i get the abs and esp fault again and it came back on and again did not go back into p.

I left the car till morning same thing in the morning.

I sat in the car and the keys were in the ignition but car was off, randomly the speed went to 160mph and mileage was going up, on the sat nav it was showing I'm moving but the engine was not even on!

I been to mercedes specialist and been told its the conductor plate which i have replaced yet the issues remain the same, now i been told its the esp control unit which is very expensive and im not sure if this is the problem

When this fault does not come on, the car drives perfect gears change properly with no problem, even in manual or sport mode its fine and it drives good unless i turn the car off and the fault comes on.

Can any one advise me or had a similar problem?

I have uploaded two images showing the abs/esp fault and the 160mph fault

Welcome Edward
I’d have hazarded you have a speed sensor fault which is not uncommon on these.
Your specialist would likely have checked that though- who are you using?

I would say that you have a fault on the CAN network somewhere, all of that is controlled via the front SAM. So you either have some crazy happenings with the SAM or a wiring fault. A wheel speed sensor wouldn't cause all the dash faults you have. However what connects the ESP and gearbox is networked to the front SAM. So in essences 3 systems are being effected by 1 fault.

I would check that the people you are using have STAR diagnosis, and if not, seek someone who does. Where in the world are you? Perhaps we could recommend someone.

Bad wheel speed sensor. Car thinks its moving due to incorrect speed information, Look at the first pics from the original OP and it shows the cars is going 100mph, which is why it won't let it go into P

Then again it could be something else.

Thanks I solved this today. It occurs when more than one wheel sensor is bad or contaminated. Any two. Best bet is change all 4. Problem solved. Thanks for the heads up.

Hi everyone, I am the owner of a Class S 320CDI year 2009 and for more than 2 years I have a problem that I have not yet solved and that is the turning on in a completely random way of the warning lights you see in the pictures. I don't have the exact English translation but it should be: tire pressure monitoring failure; lane change assistant failed; active PARKTRONIC fault; Faulty ABS and ESP read the instructions for use. This happens especially in the summer months when with the car hot and many kilometers traveled and I stop for a few minutes and turn off the engine. When I turn it back on, these messages appear, the car can still be driven but does not have the aids mentioned. Usually if I stop, turn off the engine, turn it back on and move, as soon as the wheels start to turn, all the messages disappear and nothing reappears until the end of the journey as long as I do not make other stops, otherwise the thing repeats itself. The local Mercedes dealer says the automatic gearbox module needs to be replaced, which alone costs around 1500 euros. I am not convinced because I do not see the connection between the messages and the automatic transmission. Since the problem is sporadic, it may take some time before it recurs and therefore I could spend money for nothing.
Have any of you had experiences of this kind?
Would it be useful to have an ODB2 diagnostic tool to connect as soon as the problem appears? and if so what would you recommend?
Sorry if I have dwelt a lot but the problem requires an explanation as detailed as possible.
Thank you.
Pinello

You're right, replace the 4 wheel sensors and for about a month with an average temperature of 38/40 ° I haven't had any problems. Thank you
