s320 cdi ticking noise at low revs...fixed!

After many ideas of this noise being a leaky injector or a design flaw in the engine crank I decided to let my local Mercedes dealer confirm the problem once and for all for me.

Two days later it is now fixed...the cause was a worn gearbox bush on one of the mountings,

thus causing a ticking/rattling noise between 1500-2000rpm

A rattling sound i could understand but a ticking would point to the possible cause's we suggested.

Its one of those things, without hearing it for ourselves its had to diagnose.

Thanks for letting us know what it was, adds another possibility for others to look at.
