S320 CDI W220 popping out of gear!!!!!

Gents,
Under hard acceleration my 01 S class is popping out of gear for some strange reason. It has only happened twice but will only go back in if you engage neutral then put back into drive!

Help!!!!!!!!!!

It sounds like your gearbox, or the hydraulic selector. Is your gearbox manual or auto? I ask this because my Sprinter's semi auto Sprintshift trans is acting up in almost the same way as yours! My Sprinty hates me pushing her too hard under load, and she retorts by jumping from either 4th to 3rd, or 3rd to 1st, making the engine go crazy till the ECU knocks it back, or i hit the brakes to slow the engine down.

I think there's a few Merc commercials and cars have this problem, i also own a Merc Citaro passenger bus, and this has no problems with its auto box.

The gearbox will be a 5 speed auto

Yeah, it definitely sounds like a gearbox/ECU fault. Have it checked by Merc immediately, before it gets worse!

Gents,

After replacing my radiator, I did not check my gearbox oil level! As the gearbox has a integrated oil intercooler within the radiator, it turns out that the level was down by 2 Litres..... This appears to have been the problem as it has not happened since filling it to the correct level.
