S320 Engine Rev Vibration

Hi there

I bought a 1999 S320 yesterday, 68500 miles; 1 owner from new and had full service history from MB and last 2 from independent garage.

There are no known faults as the car was last serviced on 14th May(B Service) and there are no malfunction reported in the screen.

I noticed today when revving the car in idle, it starts heavy vibration from 6000 RPM.Is this normal or should I need to get this checked.Please advice.

Hello, thats a good engine and a very low miles car, if it drives and pulls OK its very hard to say,,6000 rpm cannot be the correct figure, as it will only go to that max

Thanks for the prompt response, I remember seeing the max engine rev counter as 8000 rpm.Let me get out and check again.

As Television experience stands correct the max rev counter is 6000 rpm and apologize for the oversight and heavy vibration started from 4000 rpm.

The engine will not go over 4000 RPM in N there is a cut out built in so your wonderful car is OK
