Hi I am looking at options to replace my A8L and am just after some information. Is the engine in the S350 and S400 the same but with a different engine map or are they completely different? Also is the S400 worth the extra? Thanks

After an A8L, an S350 (even more so an L) will feel sedate in comparison. Just saying... the S Klasse is 600kg heavier than the Audi.

Are we talking petrol?
The 400 is a Hybrid is it not?
If diesel it’s the same OM656 with different tuning so just depends how much you value another 60bhp ish ...personally I would in such a big car

Sorry, I should have been clearer lol. Both new, both diesel and both LWB. I didn't realise the S was so much heavier?

It’s a significantly more solid car...

Best thing to do, take each model out for a drive and see which engine better meets your needs. I suspect though, being a LWB that the 400 might feel a bit more effotless. Not that the 350 is a slouch woth the new inline 6.
