View attachment 49546 I'm having same trouble with my 1996 s320 w140.....immobiliser stuck on...and it's getting on my TITS as no one seems to no the answer or it's a secret ....my car only has 75,000 on it and the mot is due in a month..l don't want to scrap it

If you are a member of the AA (with home start and relay) they will transport the car to the garage of your choice if they can't sort it at the roadside. The transported mine 50+ miles to MBS when the need arose.

I read somewhere on a forum that the W140 key transponder comms with the security device on the car (induction coil around ignition barrel) in not reading the base code, but also shares a rolling code programmed into their memories. Will a mobile auto locksmith be able to read that stuff?

I suspect that when I first had the car running the fob battery was dead hence it didn't send any IR signal to the car to lock or unlock. Once I put new fob batteries in I suspect the commsgot out of sync. The owner's manual explains a resync procedure which I think I'll repeat this weekend.
Changed key fob batterys, put new car battery on it,locksmiths tested key and said no signal from transponder..done resync process...red and green lights in interior flashing at same time.....I have spent last 2months Reading MERC forums...ask looks Mercedes and they said cant get key fob no more

Tried mercedesreplacementkeys of Birmingham. They replied that they can't do the W140. At most they could repair a faulty key. But they think that the IR jey must be ok as it works the central locking. So they don't believe they can help.
I'm trying to get to the R38 starter relay to force an engine start even when immobilised. Any advice on where this is?
