Hello. I have just carried out a Diagnostics on my Merc clk 220 2.1 ltr 2008 Avant Garde. It has advised me that SAM may be faulty. A faulty SAM can create a host of faults, for which the following are what I am experiencing:

1. Remote key fob only opening Central Locking System via Infra Red i.e. when I place the fob right up to the Driver's Door handle
2. Radio no-longer tunes in to channels, only a couple or so
3. Fuse F8 keeps blowing, which I understand F8 is part of the Antenna, Alarm System and the Central Locking.

I would very much appreciate if this sounds familiar with anyone else and experience/outcome.

Many thanks
Gina

Sounds more like a failed antenna amplifier to me.

The radio antenna amplifier is also used for the radio central locking.

My R Class has exactly the same issue.

Unplug your alarm sounder and see if the fuse no longer blows. Clue: its located behind the wheelarch liner at the back of the nearside front wheel. This could explain all the issues you described

Thank you LostKiwi. Yes, I have read this too and with the Radio not tuning in, then it does kind of point to the Antenna Amplifier, doesn't it!

Thank you so much. I’ve just seen a YouTube vid stating same. Thanks again.

Hello everyone. First off; massive thanks to those of you that responded with sound fault pointers. Today I am revisiting the faults that my Autel Maxisys Elitte II provided yesterday [see points below]. I am wondering if sharing this additional information helps anyone to advise on potential fix/es. To me, a complete Novice, it sounds like 1 and 2 are perhaps related to one another, and perhaps not necessarily the Antenna, but the SAM and/or the theft alarm system somehow! Thanks again in advance. Gina

1. Fault Ref # B1059: Fault in communication with the component B33 [ATA/EDW [Anti-Theft Alarm System] inclination sensor] or a wire fault exists
2. Fault Ref # B1078: Fault in communication with the component H31/1 [Alarm signal siren with additional battery] or a wire fault exists
3. Fault Ref # D137: During diagnosis, communication on the MOST bus was interrupted.

I'd still go with UncleBenz's suggestion.
If the alarm siren is blowing fuses several of those errors will come up. Get that sorted then chase down the rest.

Thanks LostKiwi, I'm tending to believe the same. Have a super weekend.

Evening everyone. Just wanted to jump on here to update you on my Central Locking and Radio not tuning in.
I asked my garage to remove the Driver's side wheel and guard panel behind it to reveal the Car Siren. We eventually located the Siren on the passenger side. After disconnecting the cable to the Siren, the Central Locking and Radio came back to life. I

am absolutely delighted. New Siren on order for fitting a.s.a.p.

Thank you SO VERY MUCH to all that supported me on this project.

Bit late to the party. Yes these alarm sirens are prone to playing up. I have an almost identical CLK to the op and fingers crossed it'll continue to be OK. My "old" W202 siren had to be disconnected as that was the cause of some issues some years ago.

I'm not a happy bunny either. My car went in on the 15th Feb. to Mercedes Harrogate for a diagnostic. The stop start wasn't working (which didn't worry me) but thought it prudent to sort it. After 2 hours I was told that it was either the SAM module, another module or the wiring.
Booked it in yesterday for the whole day. Told it was not what they thought and possibly a diode on another control panel. Have now had to book it in a third time for next Tuesday and "will need to car for the whole day".

I have an uneasy feeling that they don't have the experience to fathom things out and can only refer to the testing equipment?
It's a Main dealer, so goodness knows what the final bill will be!
Am I the only one with this problem?

I don't think I'm alone in the belief that if a car is outside a warranty period it should be referred to a known MB Specialist Independent Garage for diagnostic services and not a dealership. Nearest I know of is https://www.rhautoservices.co.uk/
I would give RH a call and have a chat with him about your concerns!

Absolutely as Tony above. Don't go anywhere near a main dealer again with that car.

Sometimes you have to experience things yourself - unfortunately. :(
