Hi, I have a 2006 C Class Estate and a two year old SAP bluetooth cradle. I recently got a new phone which only partially pairs up to the cradle. When I contacted the mobile phone manufacturer (Samsung) They said that there may be a firmware upgrade for the cradle to eliminate the problem since I only have a partial pairing.

I can make calls okay with it but the address book will not transfer across and when I get into th car the phone has to be allowed to pair with the cradle each time where normally it pairs to other bluetooth devices automatically.

Is there such a firmware upgrade and if so where would I get it?

Thanks in advance.

As far as I'm aware the SAP cradles cannot be upgraded.

The only phones that operate really completely with the MB SAP are Nokia and then not all of them :(

postmastergeneral, the passkey(code) is generated when you pair the phone with the cradle. You can generate a new one simply by resetting the cradle and starting the pairing afresh. What phones are you attempting to use?

MB SAP cradles can't be upgraded. This is the reason I bought the Viseeo cradle (which can).
It doesn't take over completely like the SAP unit but it has a lot less compatability issues.

white nemesis its the bain of my life at the moment. have found loads of stuff online saying all of them have the same passkey 62872 as in this guide. http://www.wireless4mb.com/Cradles/html/cradle_adaptor_quickguide.html

ive been trying a variety as there is no up to date list online list explaining which phones are compatible and which arent. ive tried nokia 8800, n95, n96. ive even tried my blackberry.

i had luck on the n96, the phone said it found the cradle and then asked me to type in the passkey. ive tried everything, the phone just says failed. im lucky i dont have a lot of hair otherwise i would have pulled it all out by now.

if someone can help, id really appreciate it. even an up to date list would be nice so i can buy a new phone that works with it.

at least i can put a simcard into the cradle.

thanks all, plus sorry for jumping on your thread zakaroo. together, we will get through this! :)

Lots of Bluetooth devices have a default passkey of 0000. Have you tried this?

You have to start the pairing process from COMAND. Have the phone bluetooth on with remote SIM mode active and visible. With COMAND on the telephone screen press and hold the MB star on the SAP module untill the LEDs flash rapidly, then press Redial softkey on COMAND and when it finds the bluetooth on the phone press OK on COMAND. COMAND then displays a 16digit passkey which you must enter into the phone within 20sec.

If you manage that COMAND will play an ascending tone to confirm connection. If not a descending tone is played. Set the phone to authorise the COAMND connection and each time you enter the car the connection will be automatically made.

Even if you don't have COMAND i.e. Audio 20 etc you still instigate the pairing from the MB audio unit and it will display the 16 digit code. Although I think on non COMAND units only the first 12 digits are displayed and you have to delete the first 4 to get the rest!! Very fiddley :(
