SAP & SMS without command

Apologies if this has been done before but I have looked for the info and can't find it.
I have a friend with an early 08 C class coupe, supplied with pre-wire but no comand.

He has had the SAP cradle fitted and when the phone is in SAP mode incoming SMS messages give an audible indication but he cannot find how to read them on the display.

I'm sorry but surely this cannot be the case with a sap cradle as when the phone is in sap mode it does not receive anything phonecalls or texts. The sim profile is transferred to the cradle which now acts as the phone. So in effect the text messages must be sent to the cradle and not the phone.

Also if the texts were on the phone then I really wouldn't need to ask the question in the first place

Check the SIM Messages on the phone.. SMS received whilst in the car are stoed on the SIM not in the phone Indox. You will need to first copy the mesages to your Inbox to read them.

With COMAND SMS are copied to the SIM Messages folder as well as in the COMAND Mailbox

So I understand that the messages are on the SIM and they get copied to the comand mailbox but without comand he says he gets a mail ikon on the car display but cannot find anyway to read it in the car so is this definately the case that he cannot read it on the car's display and will therfore have to wait until the phone is disconnected from the car and then have to copy from sim to phone.
Also as I understand it you can install your sim into the sap module and if you did this what would happen to the sms messages then?

Stritchly speaking SMS are received by the SAP and copied to the phones SIM. As you don't have COMAND they can't be read until the phone has disconnected from the car.

If you install the SIM into the SAP module the SMS will be stored on the SIM and can be read once the SIM is replaced into the phone and copied to the phone's Inbox.
