Sat nav on hard drive

I have just purchased a new merc which has a hard drive sat nav. Am told by MB that it can be updated at their garage by downloading the new maps. Can I do this myself as I am sure MB make a massive charge.
Any ideas???

hi yeah just like s class which only main dealer can update you nav such as add bird eye view.they could charge you or some might just do it for free.usally be hour labour cos it does take long time to update.

I used to own a VW Golf with the latest touch screen satnav that was also a hard drive unit.. You could store up to 20GB of mp3 music on it which was very, very handy and a very much missed feature.
I had the map and software updated on it.. It took about one and a half hours to complete.. I suspect it will be something similar on a Merc. (Merc hourly rates though.)
