sat nav system options

Well after reading a few things about these over the net i am at a bit of a muddle lol

i currently have 2 sat nav's

1 is out of date and states i am driving in feilds when going down the new a30 (cornwall) which is a navman icn 610 and only works off 12v socket

the other is part of my phone which is more upto date all though a bit slow and slowish with commands and call's a roundabout a circle which i find commical lol also the screen is a bit on the small size phone is a se w595

now i have had a look at tom tom and alike but would prefer one that was intergrated inside the car rather than having a thing you attach to the windsceen all the time

now i have seen the ones with the fold out screen that play dvd's but think that it is pointless to have one for the dvd's as i have a dvd player in the car for the kids and cant see my self watching dvd's on the move

so i am trying to locate a system that is in the middle, it is a radio with cd player, but dont play dvds and, can alternate between music and directions when it needs to but must allow the ability to play cd's when using the navigation system

preferably updateable unlike the icn and will fit and look ok in the w124 console

Though having no first hand experience of this unit i have heard very favourable comments, and has the OEM look of MB head units.

Blobcat fitted a nice unit into one of his cars, do a search on that

just searched for that and it seems to be a double din and didnt really want to butcher the dash

will have a look at that one it seems a bit dated with 2004 being mentioned as a map would have to see if it was updateable
