Hello world,
Had the V10 for a few weeks and had no probs..
However, I am due to go to a destination near Reading tomorrow and I was unable to enter the postcode..
The required code was RG4 9HE
After tappping in RG4, I ws only given the option of entering a 4 ..nothing else. I must admit I quite like the navigation, its very precise and accurate, but the graphics are disappointing and the lack of full postcode is a bit poor for the latest version in such a prestige motor..
I ended up having to locate the destination with the map cross hairs..

The first 4 number will give you the road list to choose from, its as near as dam it.

I like the system, and she talks to me via the linquare tronic

I realise the first four digits are usually enough.. but tomorrows location is in the middle of nowhere on a B road with no name... and the satnav would not accept the fourth digit ..
When it came to the fourth digit, only the number 2 was highlighted and that was not the number I needed.

Did it need a space between the third and the fourth digit? This catches a lot of people out.

Also, once you have the postcode in then you can use the MAP function to position the cross hair precisely where you want it to take you.

Hi Guys,

I'm new to this forum and I was hoping somebody could help me with my sat nav query. I have a 2006 CLK with inbuilt sat nav and the original disc from 2006 (i think version 6 or something close). I can only input 4 digits from the postcode and then it asks me to input the street/road name, it doesn't give me a list of streets to choose from. It has sent me to the wrong place quite a few times and i'm beginning to lose confidence in it.

Am I doing something wrong? Do I need to update anything?

Thanks a lot in advance

Ruby

Welcome to the forum Ruby, sorry to say you might be stuck with 4 or 5 digits with your satnav, I dont think any updates will make a difference. The poor sat nav is the only reason I got rid of comand and went to a Kenwood. I am sure if theres a better answer it will soon be added

oh dear, this is yet another example of the frustration caused by MB's woefully inadequate satnav system. i believe that is all you can do, and that it does not recognise full post codes! another contributor may be along to put me straight, but i fear you are stuck with it! i suggest you stick one of those ugly tomtoms on the screen if you want to cheaply navigate to post codes.

Hi Guys,

I'm new to this forum and I was hoping somebody could help me with my sat nav query. I have a 2006 CLK with inbuilt sat nav and the original disc from 2006 (i think version 6 or something close).

Which disk is it?

I think there were problems with V6.0 so there's a V6.3 which works reasonably well (assuming it's the same COMAND system as in my C Class).

The very latest is V11 but another forum member has said there's not much difference.

To be honest, it is pretty useless at locating places - I tend to find where I'm going in multimap on my computer at home, then navigate to that location using the map function in COMAND. Then store it, then switch to nav an go to last saved location.

Travelling to places that I don't know, it's very easy to find yourself in the wrong place because COMAND asked for an area name that isn't familiar.

One tip,, when using Comand,, once your route has been selected,, do have a look and see where she is taking you, and this might be a long way round,, to get her to change to your preferred route, just enter a town midway, navigate to there and then on to your final destination
