I've got the Comand APS in my '05 C class. I had an 04 Comand DVD in it which worked fine, took me down thru Belgium and Luxembourg to Basel with only the occasional 'off road' moment on new roads it didn't recognise. So I decided to 'upgrade' to the second most recent disc, 2012/13.
It took a couple of attempts but in the end it worked, upgraded, and after removing the fuse it also switched off and on as expected.
I don't really use it day-to-day, but tested it to take me home a couple of times and it was fine. This was a fortnight ago.
Then yesterday I actually needed it. I'd already programmed the destination in, started the navigation outside my house, then cancelled it until needed. So I 'continue(d) route guidance' when I was lost and after much deliberation I got 'please insert navigation dvd'. And again and again. I ejected and reinserted. I cursed. I got my phone out and found my way with that.
Now I just keep getting the same message. The map is showing, but the screen goes blank for a few seconds on a regular basis. I tried the old disc and that didn't work either. So now what? Can I make it work again?

could be a firware upgrade thats required to recognise the new features on the newer disks.

Is it a genuine navigation disc? If so check for any scratches or damage. Also try a cd lens cleaner.

Is it a genuine navigation disc?

Well now I'm not sure. It was described on ebay as 'used' and arrived in a genuine-looking box, but looking at the disc itself, in comparison to the 2004 one which definitely IS genuine, the data side is bluey-purple as opposed to silver, and there's an 'edge' where the data finishes, so I'm thinking it might be a copy. I'm about to contact the seller and ask...
