SBC Hydraulic Pump Warning Light on Dash

Hi my 52 plate Mercedes E320 Petrol Avantguarde has the brake service warning on dash, when I took it to my local garage, they put onto a machine and informed me that the SBC Pump needs replacing.

I have read on internet merc forums that this should be covered be Mercedes Warranty?, please can someone advise as the car has only done 70K with service history.

Yes they will do it free, but they will want to put it on STAR and charge you for this bit, so just go in and say the warning has come up,, do not tell them that you have had it checked out before, so just pay the cost of putting it on STAR.

Thank You will take to dealer on Monday, but I called them today and the service guy claims I will have to pay around £75 for inspection before any decisions re a free repair are given?

That is for the STAR check and what I said will happen

The £75 is normally refunded (not actually charged) if a new pump is required and MB agree to pay. Thats my experience anyway.

Thanks for all the replies have taken car to dealer earlier today and they have called back to inform they will repair at no charge to myself! RESULT

Not a bad result on a 10 year old car I'd say!
Design fault or not, how many other manufacturers would stand by their products and fully repair a 10 year old car FOC!

When the alternative is to have owners of their cars having/causing widespread accidents & loss of life, probably most !!
