Hi
W211 E270 CDI. 2003, done 110,000 miles (only).
Total mileage is not too high but as car has been in use for 16 years I'm assuming I don't have too long left before it comes up with the dreaded "Brake applications exceeded ... visit workshop" ... or whatever message you get once the 300,000 count has been exceeded.
The brake system appears to be in good order with brake fluid changes every 2 years showing up on the old service docs I received when I bought the car.
Does anyone have experience of these re-set tools (see photo attached) lots of them on Ebay ... and more importantly, do they work?
I assume I could visit a good Indie and they could use their diagnostic kit to re-set the counter but I'm estimating it would be at least a '£50 plus' job so I'd rather have something ready at home (costing less than £20) to have the ability to do it myself, if possible.

i think the number of brake presses is there for a reason, i.e. safety, so i wouldn't reset it and continue to use it, nope, not ever.

The SBC is a pump that wears out. The counter exists to ensure the pump doesn't fail whilst in use. It's not expensive to have them rebuilt properly. Do the job how it should be done.

I had the SBC pump replaced on my SL55 around 4 years ago. It cost my £1300 at a main stealer

main dealer is way overpriced in my opinion.
I do same job at a reasonable price.

Ussualy after anybody did a reset, the Red message come on and that required a full refurbishment.

Teset tools from ebay are a joke. All they have stored to do in small microchip is to get delete C249F .

Best regards
