Hi folks,

Owning another Mercedes (I used to have an E200 Kompressor) has been a bit of an itch that needed scratching so last week I bought a 2000MY (X plate) S320 CDI. I knew it would need some TLC but have been surprised just how much of this superb car doesn't work and it may be that I've bitten off more than I can stomach :(

Time will tell, but for the moment I still feel inclined to try to get it back to full working condition. At the moment the major issues are it's in limp mode all the time (well it did run properly for about 10 miles on Thursday) and the central locking isn't working at all. I guess I need to get it to an Indie with Star and if I can get those problems sorted without the need for a second mortgage it'll be a keeper.

Check the fuses as the first step you can do yourself for the central locking.

It was a reasonable punt - they are excellent cars.

Hope you get over your teething troubles. Indy is certainly the way to go.

Is the main battery under par? I think that can cause many glitches.

He will have the airmatic instead :D

Re the locking, the pump may have shut down, pull the fuse for 20 mins and replace and see if it works.

You have Steve a very good indie not so far away.

It appears to be okay. I haven't checked the charge but the engine fires up first prod of the key.

Thans for the thought though ;)

I fancy it's going to be the pump as everything that relies on it isn't working :?

I will try the fuse trick before I pull it out and bench test it.

Who is the indie you recommend? I would rather work of a recommendation that stick a pin in a list :)

If I knew what ABC was I might be worried about that ... ignorance is bliss, as they say :p

Active Body Control, hydraulic active suspension rather than the pneumatic version you have. Not many issues with ABC, no sirree :rolleyes:

I think he means me......or at least I hope he does?!

Bring it down sometime and we will run a STAR test and see what comes up....

Hi Steve, I will give you a call next week and arrange a time. I work in Portishead so it might have to be in my lunch hour.

Steve
