What do people use to clean their windscreens, particularly the inside? My CLS is only 6 months old but the inside of the windscreen is a smeary mess and I can't shift it. It's a real pain in these low winter sun conditions. And I don't smoke!

Haha, I was just going to ask that question myself. I have been using Autoglym glass cleaner which is good, but was wondering if there was anything better. I am interested to see the answers you get :)

Tip I picked up recently, whilst trying to clean inside glass of new-to-me acquisition, which had really grotty windows... fake chamois soaked in warm water!

About the only thing I'd ever use a fake chammy for as it happens, but works superbly, and quickly! Leaves a streak free finish (we have soft water down here). You can then give it a once over with a cleaner of your choice if you feel the need.

No, nor have I. I’m going to try a bit later when I've finished polishing the car if I still have the energy :)

Thanks all for responses. I've been using Sainsbury's Window & Glass Cleaner and kitchen towel but it seems to smear worse than ever. Might try the screen wash though, that's interesting. I knew someone who swore by newspaper (preferably recent) for cleaning glass - something to do with the ink? Trouble is, no newspaper these days. I'll try the vinegar as well.

Microfibre cloth is your best friend..... if it touches the dash, use another one or else you are just smearing the oils released in hot weathers from the vinyl/plastic dash or oily protectants used on the dash back onto the screen. This is one reason for smears in the first place, others being smoke etc.
1. Wash the outside of the screen first so you can assess how well you have the inside has been cleaned.
2. Wipe inside screen all over with a clean dry microfibre cloth/towel in circular motions. Flip to a side that has not been used and wipe again in up and down motion avoiding touching the cloth onto the dash.
3. Degrease the inside screen with a new cloth/towel surgical spirit/rubbing alcohol/windscreen wash or (not for the faint hearted), a damp magic eraser, but note that is an abrasive albeit a very mild one (great for scratches on watch glass!), using circular motions. If any liquid drops onto the dash use a towel to clean up to avoid any possible staining and/or transfer of oils back onto the glass and dry off any liquid drops when using the eraser.
4. Using a new cloth/towel spray your fav glass cleaner directly onto the cloth/towel and then wipe the inside screen in circular motions.
5. Flip cloth to a new side and wipe up and down to finish off

Don't use spirits/magic eraser on tints (only use soapy water and a microfibre cloth)

Dab of fairy liquid in hot water.

Or just breathe on it.

I ain't that flexible any more. Can't get my head around the rear head restraints to do the rear screen

I wouldn't have thought it would be sweat. If you google it it gives you 'Offgas from vinyl or plastic. Vinyl and other plastics, when heated can vaporize and eventually settle on the surface of your windshield, causing a smoky film from the inside' and we sure have plenty of that, or at least those of us who have Artico
