Seat Belt Retraction

I'm having a bit of trouble with the seat belt retracting after 95 K of use. (C class W203). It does retract but ever so slowly with the result that I frequently trap the buckle in the door opening . the result is either paint removed from the door surround or the door not shutting. :(
Can anything be done to tighten the S/B spring or does the belt have to be replaced (at what cost?) Thanks in advance for any answers!

These things are not serviceable, I did spray some PTFE onto the roller on my V70 and that helped a little, if it is very much slower than the passenger side then change it.

euromerc has new ones cheap I think

One just has to remove the B pillar trim and thats easy.

euromerc does go out buying parts and normally replies in the evening time

Hi janice,

Try cleaning the top feed guide. Ive found that after time this gets a gummed up with stuff and doest allow the belt to feed as freely as it once did. Try pulling it through the feed first and seeing if the slack is then pulled down into the reel any easier.

Hi Guys, my wife had the same problem with her Sports Coupe at the weekend. The seat belt did not retract and the clip has gone through the speaker housing at the rear of the door panel when the door was closed.
Spoke to Inchcape on their online shop whilst ordering a new speaker grill and they say it is endemic to the W203 cars and the replacement seat belts are not a lot better.
The spares guy just reccomended a bit of caution as opposed to spending money on the seat belt.
Paul.

Hi Television! Please give me a clue! Pulled back the rubber door surround and there appears to be 4 Yellow clips (2each side) I've pushed and pulled but "no can move". dont want to put to much pressure on, plastic trim breaks very easy this weather! I would be grateful for your guidance!

No rules on saying thank you on here, I know when people are:D

Its always nerve racking when pulling these things off for the first time, when you have done a few and a piece comes off, you just say dam,,and carry on, there is no other way
