I bought a used S class 320CDI which is a real beauty. But when trying to store the seat position by pressing the "M" and then one of the numbers 1 for example it doesn’t bleep or give an acknowledgment tone that the settings have been stored as stated in the manual (though it does store the position). Any advice will be helpful

My CLS doesn't beep on storing either. As long as it is storing the settings does it really matter?

I think you need to specify what year your car is as I have just trawled through the S class manual and found no mention of any audible notifications

Thanks Whitenemies for the fast response. i feel better now that it may not be a malfunction in the car. it is really you seek perfection with Mercedes and you want the car to do as it says in the manual.

Thanks television. The car is late 2008 and it says in the manual page 254 "A tone sounds when the settings have been completed". I am not sure is it inaccuracy in the manual or a malfunction in the car

I have just had a read of the 2008 S class manual.

M Memory button
1 2 3 Memory position buttons
Switch on the ignition ( page 344).
or
 Open the respective door.
Storing positions into memory
Adjust the seat ( page 347) to the desired position.
On the driver’s side: Adjust the steering
wheel ( page 359) and the exterior
rear view mirrors ( page 361) to the
desired position.
 Press memory button M.
Release memory button M and press
one of the memory position buttons
within 3 seconds.
All the settings are stored with the selected position.

Could you be looking at the wrong manual or a option that's only available in a different market.

Miffy thanks very much. Do you have a link to the manual you are reading from?. the pages you mentioned have completely different topics in the manual i have. if that is the case then it seems that there are different manuals around. And there is no malfunction in the s class :)
