CLK 2005 350 Cabriolet
Hi Guys new member hope someone can help me, have a 2005 CLK 350 Cabriolet had it from new however the last two years I have spent about 5 k on repairs more than its current value even though mileage is only 78k.

Current issue is drivers seatbelt will not retract whatsoever there is not the slightest bit of recoil and getting to it seems a nightmare it looks like rear seats have to come out, has anyone got any idea where I can get this repaired or replaced for a reasonable price. I live is Staffordshire so 50 mile radius is no problem its just that with all that has happened so far with the balance shaft gearbox repairs etc I am at a point I want to shove it over a cliff

Welcome and sorry to hear your woes. ACMS Mercedes in Walsall have an excellent reputation and l take both my Mercs there whenever l need something doing that l can't do myself. I believe even the official Merc dealer consults them when they have a problem car.

Welcome to the forum OP. Although I cant help with the issue at hand, hope you get it sorted and do post back the result.
Happy motoring.
Many people get frustrated saying the repair costs more than the value of the car but what they fail to digest is that if they were to
replace the car they may well spend 20k.
My w220 from new I have spent alot on minor repairs the last few years - I love the car and know its pros and cons.
onwards and upwards

Hi thanks for the reply I have since had a price off Mercedes Stafford who supplied the car £520 inclusive of fitting which I will run with, less that I thought the part is £216 and labour 1.6 hours of course we know their labour rates however I thought 1.6 hours was very reasonable

That's around around £300 for 1.6 hrs labour .... about £200 per hour!! No wonder the dealers have 'free' coffee ;)

What about ordering the part from MB Grangemouth (they give a healthy forum discount) , then getting an Indy to do it .
Then selling the faulty part on eBay ;)

Independent Mercedes Specialist....... (Indy).

I presume you have tried pulling the Belt completely out and giving it a short sharp pull? Sometimes the Locking Mechanism can get stuck.
Hi Bill Thanks for the tip I had not tried that but just did it and nothing there is totally no recoil at all, I have not yet booked it into Stafford Mercedes waiting for the place in Walsall to come back to me with a price below is the email price from main dealer 1.6 hours I thought that was OK its just rate per hour

Mercendes Benz Click n Drive
As we spoke about on the phone for the Driver seat belt to be replaced and fitted including VAT would be £508.80, If you would like just the part the part is £216.00 + VAT.

Hi Thanks for the tip about MB Grangemouth just called them £15 discount with the part plus postage so not really saving much also if Mercedes Stafford supply and fit the part warranty is better than me supplying free issue part, but thank you for the email

I realise not your Model but the Seatbelt will be the same. You can "FF" to 4 minutes and he shows you how to release the Mechanism.
A lot better than forking ut 500 quid!!!

Definitely worth a try. Maybe get someone to help you with the removal. If his solution doesn't work then just order a new one and fit it. I was hoping a few yanks would have done the same thing.
