Random post alert!

I’ve had my CLK for just over a week now and just can’t find the sweet spot for the seating position.

One of the main issues I have is a keep getting pins & needles/numb right foot when driving. Never had this before!

Just wondered how others had it set (I’m 6 foot)?

Thanks in advance!

Is the seat base tipped fully backwards so that the front is causing pressure under your thigh ? If it is tip the front of the base down slightly

I’ve got the base all the way down; I could try it all the way backwards then knock it off a bit?

That’s how I have mine all the way down at the back of the base with the front of the base up , I find this supports the thighs . I’m 5’11 and done some 13 hour drives in the CLK so it is possible to get it right

Cheers, Wighty. I’ll put the seat as low as it goes and raise the front up.

How close do you sit to the pedals? I still get the numbness whichever position I use.

I’m a fair way back so my right leg is tipped to the right and my heel is probably just left of the pedal .

Get the seat base to support under your legs and sufficiently away from the pedals for a relaxing bend in the legs. Set the seat back to a comfortable angle and with your arms straight out in front of you, you should be able to touch the rim of the wheel with your wrists.

Adjust the steering wheel to Allow your wrists to touch the rim with your shoulders against the seat back.

Once you’ve done that you should be good to go for many hours

That's the thing with modern multi adjustable car seats.....there are just too many positions you can put them into.
Thinking back to decades ago when seats were basically move forward/back/recline, you never seemed to have a problem with comfort.
Don't get me wrong though I think modern seat design is so much better, but they are not without their problems.
I had a problem with the Recaro seats in my pre facelift Mk.3 Focus ST.....took me ages to get a seating position that didn't give me a sore lower back and thighs. Then when I got the facelifted model which had identical looking seats I was instantly comfortable from day 1.
I thought I was going to be in the same position again with this car because I was getting a pain in my back , but must have just needed a wee bit of bedding in because it seems to be fine now. :)

That’s why I went for memory seats this time. Once I’ve found my “sweet spot” I don’t want anyone messing with it!

Cool. I’ve gone to this from a 2015 Ford Focus; wonder if it’s just a case of bearing with it until I get used to it?

It's possible that it could just be as simple as that.....

I’ve only ever had manual seat adjustments, so use tape to mark the position. I know. I’m a loser.

Everyone is different when it comes to seating.
I tend to have seat fully down, legs slightly bent but able to comfortably get full throttle, back quite steep (bear vertical) and steering wheel so base of thumb touches top of wheel (slightly further away from the wheel than Blobcat).

When I used to rally minis I used to set up so fingertips just touched the top if the wheel, mainly because when going hard I used to pull myself forward on the wheel and that set the position well for me.
Sone years ago I did a rally driving day near Oxford and the instructor tried to get me to sit with elbows at 90 degrees when holding the wheel. We argued for 5 minutes before I told him I'm doing it my way, deal with it.
At the end of the day I had fastest time by some 20 seconds on 3 laps and was setting times close to instructors.

Once you find your personal sweet spot you'll know it's right.
