Second battery??

Been told today that my E280 sport has two batteries. Is this the case? If so, +apart from the main battery, where is the second one located and what does it do?

The second battery in my car is under the boot. It runs all the on-board electrics. The one under the bonnet just starts the car.

Not sure a 2007 E class has two batteries as the aux battery on earlier cars is to supplement the main battery for the SBC braking system which your car doesn't have (Post 2006 )

You can double check by undoing the 10mm nut on the filter housing and removing the plastic cover which is on the nearside engine bay next to the bulkhead. Its right in the corner you cant miss it.

My late 2006 E320 only had the 1 battery (as far as I’m aware)

2007 only has one- as said above the second was to power up the SBC which thankfully you don’t have
