A few weeks ago there was a topic on suspension, but this only really touched on "conventional" suspension.

My question is, what is the life expectancy of the self levelling suspension that i have on the rear of mine. I see that self levelling fluid is available, does this mean that a change of fluid is required? if so how often, or is this just for top up purposes?

I need it about right before i hook up the caravan, can't have poor old "Madge" wallowing around unnecessarily can we??

Dave, Self levelling suspension has always baffled me a bit......so on this occasion i have about as much knowledge as i do about flower arranging.

Hi Dave,

There is no servicing recommended for these cars. But what I would do is check the fiter in the resovoir is clean. I had one that when you looked it was full. Then you looked at the bottle it was empty. Otherwise so long as there are no leaks. Then no other checks are required.

Regards

PS. If you decide you would like to change the oil. Watch out if you undue the bleed nipple at the rear. Its under quite high pressures. The system is self bleeding.

Andy.

Thanks for that, i assume the filter you are refering to is the one in the top of the power steering pump resovior?

Bearing in mind what we have been discussing in the forum on autobox oil, can we use the same rule for this component? I.E. MB say its filled for life, but the oil is changeable, so it should be changed?

Or is it too much of a "Git" of a job??

I sure if that happened the moderators would have to close down the site. Due to unsolicited material not suitable to a reputable site such as this being downloaded. I have no doubt that the relevant branch of the serious crime squad would have to contact their mate Dave E, to ask to conduct himself a socially acceptable way.

A caravan should not pose much problem to a 320 driver , surely ??

However, there is only so much of this sort of thing a man can take...

Thats a shame Matt, Guy has done a good job, certainly made us laugh at this end.

Back to Guy for some technical adjustments.
