Self parking being taken off

Hi all

I just picked my new car a glc amg 220d made in 2020 and was told that Merc are now not allowed to load the self park software any longer . No body could tell me the reasons . I have park tropic still so get the beeps and colours but no self park. Anyone else had this experience or know the reason why , I feel I may be getting miss informed . Thanks for any help

This is the thread. I haven’t read it in full yet but I hope it’s not withdrawn from existing cars. Not that I have ever used it on mine, other than once or twice when I had a play, but I don’t want it taken away!

They told me not , but the weird thing is we also got an a class for my wife on the same day and it has it on

"Regulation No 79 of the Economic Commission for Europe of the United Nations (UN/ECE) — Uniform provisions concerning the approval of vehicles with regard to steering equipment" is the regulation concerned. Note this is NOT the EU as some would have you believe - it's a UN body.

Thanks for that. So seems it’s regulation . Let’s hope the industry get that revoked as I miss it . But that’s mad when I have car with it and one without it but both picked up from the dealer in the same week . Very disappointed to say the least

Almost certainly down to factory of build and date of build.

Used to quite like it on my 212s certainly and my XC90...more useful then my remote parking I have now (used once just for the hell of it)

My glc was built nov 2020 and the a class was built sept 2020, but both registered jan this year . So the date of manufacture definitely has a lot to do with it

It will be interesting to see how that sits with the arrival of self-driving cars

And if its an existing function ?are we going to see dealers looking to delete the function on existing models.
Or will makers just be having "lunch " with authorities involved.

I can confirm that the self parking feature works on the 2021 A class in Canada. Not as smart as I'd hoped it to be but still functions.

I have 'Self Parking' and no one can delete that from my software. It was trained into me in 1972 by my Dad

My ML will self parallel park. But I've only used it half a dozen times in the past 18 months ... I can park up faster myself, it does look quite clever when in use though.

I very much doubt any of the self parking systems would be able to do it in my garage...
I’d quite like them to try “computer says no”

Same. .thing is I sure if it goes wrong and hits sommat it wont be benz fault.it will be mine,so I tried it but never used since.

I've used it many times in the E-class and it's worked perfect! Has definitely helped get the car in within seconds. Just got to be careful there isn't any long plants or grass near the verge as it sends the system crazy
