Hi I’m new to this forum so be gentle!

I have a 190D on an H reg, its done about 120 000 miles and still going strong.

My serpentine belt is flapping and twisting about near the bottom of its engine bay.

The tensioner was replaced about 9 months ago by a mechanic who has worked on the car for years.

Its got to the point where its very noisy now, any ideas why?

worn pulley, or a bearing gone in alternator or water pump, failed tensioner, loose idler or component, can't think of much else it could be.

Thanks, I will see if there is any play in the bearings.
I’m not sure where the idler component is …or even what it looks like, but will find out. There is no problem with the cars idleing, if it was this would it effect its idle?

When you say worn pulley do you mean it has gone too shiny to grip or play in the bearings.

Just to explain I regularly work on older cars but buy my standards this is very modern, so it’s new territory.
