service indicator v MB records

My manual says something along the lines of 'if my car does less than the service interval mileage during a 12 month period then my service counter will switch from miles to days to next service' which seems very sensible (if needed I will fetch it and quote exactly). How is it then that my counter says 4,000 miles to next service yet MB reckon it's due next month?

Well the days count down will start with 28 days to go, so it may change over soon. Some cars its two years. MB might just be going one year from there records!
