Service interval exceeded

I have a question about the effects of exceeding the Service interval. I had a Service B booked for my A180 CDI a couple of days ago, but had to cancel it due to last minute site work commitments. I've been stuck on site for longer than planned and the service interval is now exceeded by 400 miles. I know it's poor planning on my behalf, I think this is the first time I've ever been over mileage.

I was wondering what the effects of exceeding the service intervals were so I can decide whether to (a) wait for my favourite Indy back home or (b) bite the bullet, get a hire car and find a main dealer close to where I'm working. I reckon by the time I get home I'll have exceeded by 700 miles (mainly motorway).

A colleague of mine who knows Vauxhalls rather well said that his new Astra has a feature that records "black marks" for exceeding service intervals by 500 miles. He said this can get interogated in the event of warranty claims, and I wondered whether our MBs do a similar sort of thing...

I hope not ...... I'm also over, and not due in till friday ................ however, the dashboard say's I have 200miles left ...and then it say's I have 300miles left ...... even though it's fixed intervals ...... so there's my get out clause.

Being a high milage kinda guy ........ I've been going over for years, and never had a warranty problem ........... however, this MB is the 1st I've owned outright.. so who knows ............ a few miles is'nt gonna hurt the car, thats for sure.

It does not matter within about 1k, the book will get stamped and the mileage will be shown when it was serviced, and nothing else

I try to get as close to 1,000 over as a matter of policy.

If I can roll it in with 999 over I'll be delighted. Best I've managed so far has been 650.

No harm to the car and the warranty is fine - as Malcolm says anything up to 1000 miles is fine (I checked this with MB when I was first in your position) and theres that warm feeling you get from getting something for nothing!

Whenever MB have serviced mine, they have always made a point of stamping the book and writing "200 miles over" next to it.

Makes you feel the same way as opening your report card at school and finding the teacher had written "must try harder"!
