Service Intervals

Hi All,

Can you tell me roughly what constitutes a full service history for a 2002 CLK320 Auto?

I have owned many different BMW's over the years and despite claims about how the service intervals are determined by driving style, miles etc they all pertty much needed servicing at regular 7k or 9k intervals depending on model.

I ask because I want to know the extent of the service history on the car I bought (yes I know I should have checked this out before buying!). It has had:

Pre delivery inspection
A service at 15k miles
B service at 30k miles

Has currently covered 40k miles and the onboard computer is suggesting it needs another service at around 45k miles.

Does this interval sound right?

Many Thanks

That sounds fine - it must have been driven on longish jorneys (as opposed to lots of short ones).
My Oct 04 C270 had a A service at 18000 miles. That's the only only time it's ever been to a dealer. It'll need a B service at about 34000.

MB have changed to fixed interval servicing on new cars of 15500miles or 1 year. Dealers are encouraging people who do lowish mileages to switch to annual servicing. Hmmm....

I'd understood that BMW's could run towards 20K miles before they needed servicing?

Thanks Rory, I was worried it had missed a service.

The BMW's I have owned were older and needed a little more TLC!

E34 520i auto (1992 5 series)

E36 325i manual coupe (3 series)

E31 850Ci auto coupe (8 series)

Excuse me but BMW have major carbonization problems on all new models especially the new 3 and 5 series. Inlet manifolds carbonize so bad. Get at least one a day with this problem and no amount of servicing is going to solve this problem.:(

The deal with Mobilo is that it needs to have had a dealer service within the last 2 yrs to maintain the Mobilo cover.
If it's only having a service every 2 yrs then it probably should be having B services - normally the indicator will change from A to B as you get close to the 2 year mark, and it'll also start counting down in days if the mileage is low.

This is interesting for my service history question thanks Rory. I couldn't understand why the car had an A service, then a B yet the on board computer is telling me the next one is a B. In my case it is because the car is coming up to 2 years since the last service.

Another mystery solved!
