Service Offer

Hello all

I am a relatively new owner of a 2014 Mercedes C 220 W204 SE Executive CDI Blue Efficiency Auto 4D Saloon and at 45,000 miles is now indicating a requirement for an A5 Service.

I am currently negotiating with an offer of £864 from an MB Retailer in Leeds for the following;

A Service now
Replacement of automatic gearbox oil and filter change later in this Year
A or B Service in 2020

I am located between Leeds and York and the nearest Independent MB retailer I have found is in Sheffield who have actually quoted in excess of £1k for the same package.

Any thoughts?

All the car needs currently in an A5 Service but the Gearbox oil change will be due by June this Year and along with the two service bundle at £864 sounds as good as it could get from a main MB retailer?

'They' aren't saying it needs anything.

I raised the enquiry from a notification from my on-board maintenance computer via ASSIST PLUS advising of the requirement of an A5 Service, the content of which is clearly indicated in the service booklet.

The Service Care Plan they have quoted includes all consumables and either a Courtesy car, Vehicle Collection or Fixed time appointment, All Service Labour times and Parts.

In the Additional Maintenance Work Section they have identified the Automatic Transmission Oil and Filter will be due to change at 77,500m/5 Years where 5 Years is due to expire in June of this Year so hey have put a bundle together for two services, the second either A or B and the Automatic Transmission Oil and Filter change which should take me through to Feb 2021 before the next due annual service.

The website recommended the following

Service

• Recommended: Service B
• £646.73

So first of all there is a conflict between the mymercedesservice website and my ASSYST PLUS recommendations which I guess is one for Mercedes to sort out.

£646.73 is rather expensive against my quote from Stratstone in Leeds for;

A Service now
Replacement of automatic gearbox oil and filter change later in this Year
A or B Service in 2020!

So when you get the quote which is in a blue box just below it says "Key Features of your service" and "Additional Service Items", if you click on the + next to them it gives you all the details of what is involved and on the additional service items it prices each element.

You're saying the MB dealer is offering you a Service plan for the next 2 services for £864 or £32 a month which will cover the A Service due, gearbox oil change, brake fluid change and a B service next year???

That actually doesn't sound bad from a dealer

It’s always worth negotiating with the dealer. I bought my car from Leeds branch but take it to Huddersfield as it’s 2 mins from my house. Car said it needed a B1 service which includes brake fluid and was quoted £463 online though the Mercedes portal! Local specialist quoted £238 all in and Mercedes price matched it. I’ll let merc do it as they give me a free loan car which makes for less hassle.

No, I don’t know from where you found the figure of £32/M from

They offered a one off payment of £864 or a schedule of 12 x £72.00 by Direct Debit

That’s what I thought, negotiated down from their first submission of £557.36 for the A Service and

£677.92 for the B Service and automatic gearbox and oil filter change (77.500 miles or 5years)

Glad we’re both on the same page now!

I don't considering it will also need at some point in the next 2 years

Brake fluid @ £100 (every 2 years)
Fuel filter @ £170 (every 4 years)
Gearbox oil will be around £300 (every 4 years)

£864 sounds a good deal to me

Exeter MB quoted me £618 just for an A Service

Just looked at mine, £539.03, which includes charcoal filter and a change of brake fluid. Gulp!

Received an estimate back from RH Auto Services in York and there's only coppers between them and the MB offer, so it's the 24 Month roadside assistance from MB with the two services that's won them the work on this occasion.
