B class 2017 220d
Hi to all , I’ve a b class 2017 2.2 , recently just had second service (b) , I’ve a three year plan and I plan to extend in the future. I’ve owned from new and I’ve noticed it’s not had the air filter changed and the cars done 27000 miles with no evidence from first or second service according to paperwork . Just wondering at what point ie mileage or years when it would be changed. I’ve tried using the online service planner where you can see future work but it looks like next service is just oil and oil filter. I can easily buy my own filter but looking under bonnet the housing looks beyond my capability . Many thanks

Hi,

The air filter replacement schedule should be listed in the Service section / book in the handbook folder you got with the car.

On my C220 CDI, I think the replacement schedule is every 4 years or 45,000 miles, whichever comes first.
If yours is the same then it not due for 2 years on a time basis or maybe next year on a mileage basis.

Mine will be roughly 40 thousand on next service which means it won’t be until cars done 55 thousand before it gets its second air filter which dosnt seam safe for the car , ? Could be wrong on previous cars they got one every second service.

It's not an item that is replaced as standard by either the B1 or B2 service, it's an item that is done on millage which is odd. And as far as I am aware there is an extra charge for this. I believe my two would be around £70

So it’s not covered on a service plan even at year 4 or 40 thousand miles

It should be!
I had my 63 on a service plan and had my air filters done on 3 years. That might be AMG models (in terms of age/mileage) but that suggests to me that all filters are included. Only things not are wear items such as brake components , tyres....

I might be wrong, but I didn't think it does, I don't even think MB include brake fluid. If you look online it will say what the extras could be. I suppose some bits are to service, and the others are to keep the car maintained.

Put it this way, MB did a B1 service on my car last April, and the bill was around £750, but that included the ATF. I will find the break down.

It's a weird one John, I think mine falls into a millage rather than time change. When I spoke to Avantagrde they told me how much the B2 service would be, but then said it could be extra depending if the air filters need replacing. I also paid extra for a break fluid change.

So is that the B2 for about £450 plus the other items?
The dealer did brake fluid as part off plan at 2 year old as I what the video they sent and dropped oil but was surprised they didn’t do air filter , think I will ask a trusted friend who will change my front pads to put a air filter in , , mine will have done 50 thousand before it gets done on the plan

I think break fluid is done under the standard B2 service.

I just checked the ‘invoice’ (I wasn’t supposed to see it, as it was internal MB Cheshire Oaks- MBUK) and the air filter was shown as ‘Extra work’ although it was included in the service plan, as was brake fluid and ATF fluid, all filters etc. That was 34k miles, 4 year old car (not 3 sorry) B Service. The prices were all discounted internal prices which is why I wasn’t supposed to see it, but I had an argument regarding the oil grade used (which I won as they had to drain and refill!). The prices were...well cheap. Suspect internally close to 50% of what us punters would be charged directly...

What's so special about a B class air filter? I only paid £10 (ebay) for the air filters (I need 2) on my SL500.

£110 fitted for the air filters is not bad
That isn't bad, just checked out ECP, the left one is £52.99 and the right is £48.49. 17% and 18% discounts on each.
