Afternoon people :D

Quick question ... I have 2000ish miles left before my B service is due ... how far over mileage wise (if any) can I go once she has told me that 'today is the day we need a service' without voiding anything?

Thanks

Morning all

I spoke to MB Dartford where I bought the car and she said that I can go over the mileage but no more than 500 - 1000k miles over, as the further I go it will effect the Mobilo and the erosion warranty ... I also spoke to MB Warrington who said that they recommend getting it done as soon as possible (she didnt state a milage at all) and the only thing that would be effected would be the Mobilo breakdown cover but once the service had been done this would be re-instated ... and that if anything happened after the service interval ie on way up there for service MB would charge for repairs and parts whereas if I had had the service they would do the work FOC ...

When you get within 20 days of the service (ASSYST will indicate service required, stating which one (A, B, etc)) either on mileage since last service, or on time. These numbers can vary according to model and year of manufacture, and it is whichever is the soonest which triggers the recommendation.

In addition to what you have discovered about going "overdue", it will also bug you every time you start up (and for the first few minutes of each journey) with a reminder to tweak your conscience!

I always think it is worth getting it done as requested by ASSYST for all the good reasons, plus it prevents the guilt trips - and you would be having it done in any case.

In real terms it cannot hurt the car by going 1K over, some cars will have done double the mileage of others during the same time interval.

Sadly Malcolm, you are being logical again! (I have warned you about this before).

In real terms performing an A service on a one year old car with 5,000 on the clock, especially in an era of synthetic oils, is nuts - but that is what MB and ASSYST now require, otherwise warranty and Mobilo Life cover are at risk.

Morning :)

Thanks for your replies, I have booked her in for 4th Sept... I do check the ASSYST so I can work out how long it is till I need to book it in .... I do 1200 miles a month just commuting ... so I will be over, which was my worry.

MB Dartford quoted B Service @ £489.42 inc VAT, dust and fuel filter
MB Warrington quoted B Service @ £308 inc VAT, dust and fuel filter
even with the £30 quid of diesel it costs to get there im still saving!

Went with Warrington as boyfriend sugggested we combine it with a week Lake District the week after :p .. who am I to argue....

Sadly sitting here one tends to forget what goes on in that big outside world, yes there are many names of things that I remember, and that I am sure that I used to do once in life, but I have forgotten what you do with them now.:(;)

I will have a chat to Alex at the next meet, he is a very kind man, and very knowledgeable in these matters

Indeed, I am so kind that, if there is anything you plan teaching him, you might want to rehearse on me first?

Then I can help decide how well he would cope? ;)
