Hi All,

Three questions here I could do with understanding as my car approaches it’s next service requirement (b1)

Is it okay to take it to a kwikfit as opposed to main dealer? Assuming this doesn’t invalidate the warranty? Will it invalidate the MB recovery service?

thanks

I think you will find the car needs to be serviced at the main dealers to preserve both the warranty and the Mobilo recovery service.

I wouldn't dream of taking my car to Kwik-fit for a service. When you come to sell the car, a full main dealer history is what most buyers are looking for on a newish car.

I’d actively avoid a car that had been serviced at Kwik Fit!

shortest thread ever. Hahah

find yourself a Mercedes independent garage near where you are if you intend on keeping the car long term. a good Indy with the right diags and familiar with the quirks of the brand is priceless.

If you want to keep mobilo, you need to keep it serviced at a main dealer.

If you want to keep the car, get it serviced at a Mercedes independent specialist (any of the ones on here would be our recommendation)

Thanks all. So I’m assuming a decent independent MB specialist will mean I keep the warranty intact?

I don't think the savings will be worthwhile unless you plan to keep the car for many years, the other problem is warranty issues, MB will be more favourable to cars serviced by them.

Goodwill is a strange beast at MB.

get yourself a service plan easy to budget and all service items are included, then take to an indy for any repairs out of warranty that way you keep your warranty and the mobilo breakdown cover.

have the car serviced at MB, for
Anything else outside the service - use an Indy.
That's what I'm doing. Main service at Mercedes to keep warranty and Mobilo and anything else will be done at an Indy

it’s actually what I always have done (for mobilo and goodwill). I always provide my own oil at service to keep the costs right down.

Did they give you a breakdown of what is needed?

You can put the details in here and it will tell you and price it (make sure you click on the "Extras" tab), at 2 years old it will need Brake Fluid, load of filters plus the basic service
