I have a Y reg A160 which I had serviced by a non main dealer, not realising that it would give a service warning every time I subsequently turned on the engine. Is there any way I can turn this off?

Thanks for that. I went to the car and tried it several times but the problem is still there. It shows a spanner symbol with a number which increases daily.

Oh well, that's a shame, so it's back to looking through the handbook ;)

You could try;

Active Service System

1 Turn electronic key in the steering lock to position 1

2 Operate the system selection button (on steering air bag, left side bottom button) until the complete overview (total mileage and trip odometer) is displayed in the instrument cluster.

3 Operate the arrow button above the selection button until the service symbol and the actual remaining mileage, time, or service exceeded indication is displayed

4 Press the (R) button on the instrument cluster for about 3 seconds until the message "DO YOU WANT TO RESET THE SERVICE INTERVAL?" CONFIRM BY PRESSING THE BUTTON appears

5 Press the button (R) again within 5 seconds

6 The message "Remaining mileage" of 10,000 Miles or 15,000 Km will appear

That won't work. Its for a different model.

1. Ignition to position 2

2. Press "0" on cluster quickly twice (double click)
(the service remaining will show up)

3 Then off with the ignition.

4.Hold the "0" down and turn the ignition on again and wait 5+ seconds.

The interval will then be re-set with a beep.

Thanks. I initially turned on the engine rather than turning the key to position 2. It now works perfectly. I have another problem. Occasionally my hazard warning lights come on whilst I am driving. They flash for 40 times, have a few seconds off and then repeat the cycle. This can last for minutes or a lot longer, with the accompanying flash from other drivers who are trying to warn me.

When you start the car be careful not to press the key fob buttons. This has happened before with a customer of mine and we eventually got to the bottom of it by teaching her to turn the key without pressing the buttons!

BlackC55 any input please :?:

Found a reference in the owners handbook, it says..................

1. Activate the instrument cluster - key in position 2
2. Press adjustment knob (bottom left of speedo) twice within one second
3. The the service indicator is cleared automatically after 10 seconds.

Okay done this and my display shows a spanner and -750 after going through the above process it DOES clear, but when the engine is started it reverts back to the spanner and -750

Help please
