Whats your location? might be worth finding a mercedes specialist in your area and try them.

Nuneaton, Warwickshire.
is it best if i go with him to buy genuin parts from merc dealer.
i have been told i would be mad as he is a very good machanic.
i do not dispute that he is good i am just concerned about the parts.
what would they be doing on a service for 40000 mileage.
i need to know best oil etc:-?

Mercedes filters and brake parts are pretty well priced and I cant see really why anyone would bother with none gen parts.
I prefer castrol magnatec and thats what I use in all my Mercs (4) I did the service on the SLK 230k recently with magnatec. Mobil 1's good but I think its pricey and not worth the extra.
If your happy to use him them go with it.

I am not being funny but the last AA Aproved garage i used for my last service looked at me thought Women, Blonde Hair, Yellow Merc, told me i needed things doing that i did not need doing.
my service is over due but i dont know where to go that will be a good garage reliable and do the job that needs doing at a fair price

i take it that the left hand side of the page is the A service which was the last service done listed under lubrication service.
on the right hand side of the page is maintenance service is this the B service if so this is the one that is due now/yesterday

This is a bit of a delicate one, but if you dont really know much about cars how do you know they sugggested work that didnt need doing.

My recommendation would be to ask for personal recommendations from friends that you trust, then take a trustworthy and knowlable male friend with you to do the talking, indeed better still let the garage think that its his car and you are only along for the ride.

This is not a good, cool solution, but sadly its the real life solution.

on the other hand a 230SLK is a fantastic car, so enjoy.

Mark.
