Hello

I am new here but would like the benefit of your collective knowledge on a query I have.

I own a 2002 SL500 and will be driving down to southern France for November. My service is due in 2500 miles, which will obviously pass some time on my trip.

I was planning on having the service carried out prior to leaving, however I read recently that a number of people were travelling to Calais to service their cars, as the prices for servicing were considerably cheaper than what we have to pay here. Savings even offset the cost of travelling to and from England.

I have had a cursory look around the internet and can only so far find this following experience from another MB owner?

http://www.day-tripper.net/shoppingcarservicetyres.html

Another bit of feedback! (March 2003)
Mercedes service - MB E220CDI 'A' service 155 euro (£106) UK price £249 both at franchise dealer. Dealer 15mins from Eurostar exit, easy to find.

Obviously I would be interested in having my service carried out somewhere on my way down if it is going to represent such savings.

Can anyone else advise on experiences servicing abroad, and, if so, recommend any good dealers we could try? Preferably towards the South Eastern area of France.

Thank you in advance for any feedback

Bump?

No-one got any advice? Even links may help?

We have emailed some garages via www.mercedes-benz.fr but have had no responses.

Any info would be appreciated.

Thank you.
