I have just had my Dec 2005 C220cdi Avantguarde serviced....
1st Service..A..14171 miles..Nov 2006
2nd Service..B..27893 miles..Oct 2007
3rd Service..A..37156 miles..Sep 2009..Last one..had G/box Oil and brake fluid change
The Bill for £532.92..........shows Oil used as 5W30229.5 £66.03 + VAT

Is this Synthetic Oil? Miles to next service was reset to 10000....Is that correct?

Then what is this Mobilo i have read about on this thread. Does my car come under this? What else is there to benefit the Full Mbsh of my car?

Got a call yesterday from them offering me a free Winter check up when i take my car to them for a £40 MOT......I said why did i need a check up when they serviced it 600 miles ago !

Richard.................Can i change my username?....

That was an expensive service.

The have changed your service that was a mileage/time thing to an annual service so that it has to be done more often. You can ask them the switch it back to what it was on before

229.5 is fine and the latest oil

i think malcom does know, mobilio is the mbuk backed breakdown recovery and home start type of thing. you need to maintain your MB service history to qualify for it. HOWEVER, you may well feel that the money you can save by going to a.n.other will easily pay for AA or RAC cover. there is a good independent in stowmarket if you are interested.

Sadly, unlike the other roadside assistance organizations, Mobilo have been known to differentiate between who qualifies for their services and who does not - and not always correctly!

There are several independents around Ipswich and probably the one in Stowmarket has the best reputation....there is another at Badley which is between Stowmarket and Needham Market . there is another in Ipswich near the speedway stadium

So as far as Mobilo is concerned ...my car has full mbsh so my car is covered for breakdown ...yes?....where are the details on this...on line ? or where

Thanks for the replies.....Great forum

If the service countdown is from 10,000 miles you're still on ASSYST. (The newer fixed annual servicing would countdown from 15,500 miles.)
However, they have given you an incorrect countdown mileage for 229.5 oil. It should countdown from 13,000 miles.
Have a look at this thread from a while ago

After mine was serviced it counted down from 10k miles when they changed it

Does it coundown in a linear manner? or does it vary?
The 15,500 figure was based on a friends c220cdi that's newer than mine and can't be set to anything other than 15,500 when reset. (The service reset using the menu buttons doesn't give any choices like mine does.)

Mine went 10k and then counted down in 30 days till the next service.

Many others have said the same thing

I have a 2005 model C270CDi and ASSYST should reset to 13,000 miles. The dealer has programmed the wrong oil type into you car. They'll pretend they don't understand but this is an outrageous scam.
I drive mine mainly for long distances and the mileage drops in 100 mile chunks for every 150 miles I drive, so it will go to almost 20K between services. Max time, though, is 2 years, and ASSYST will switch to days whn it gets within 30 days of the 2 yr point.

MB229.5 is the full synthetic, long life, oil.

Your car is covered by Mobilo as long as it visits an MB dealership at least every 2 years.

And when they realise that you are wise to their little scams, they no longer send their little questionaires to comment on your service experience, especially if you have marked them down previously. No wonder all the dealers scores are above 90%.

Yes - funny that. After the first visit and survey I got, I've never had another one since!

Mind you, my dealership is down at 86% anyway, which compared to the others being mainly mid-90's, is pretty terrible.

I think in 2006 ASSYST was reconfigured to call for a service every 15,500 miles, or every 12 months, whichever is the soonest - my 2007 W203 certainly has that plan.

Having been set to 15,500, however, if use is mainly motorway on a hot engine, then that figure will increase and I have seen the mileage since last service, plus mileage to next service total 18,000 miles - then the 12 month limit kicks in - drat!

So ASSYST will vary the timing of the service according to the type of use - sooner than 15,500 miles for urban use, later for optimal use. It is a clever system, but the 12 month limit is the bone of contention for lower mileage drivers, including a lot of older people and retirees.

I obtained a 2 year or 24,000 mile free service contract when I bought my approved used S350, it was serviced with Mobil 1 under this plan 9,500 miles after purchase when they set the service indicator to count down from 10,000 miles.

This means I will definately get another free service before the 24,000 miles are up, I would have had no chance of this if they had set assyst to count down correctly from 13,000 miles as most of my trips are on motorways.:twisted::D
