Shocks Replacement Advice Needed

Hello everybody!

Need advice for replacing front shocks on my non-ADS, W140, S500, 1996. MB service center is selling Belstien ($72 each). Other choices are Sachs ($80 each) and Schnieder (40$ each). All German brands and as per the OE specs.

Not satisfied with the rear shocks performance either.

Kindly advise to avoid pitfalls

A very simple job to replace them,,they just bolt on,, the choice is up to you, the ones you mention sound good

Bilstein and Sachs are good OEM brands that can be trusted,

Not heard of Schneider, but the low price suggests a budget brand that has no place on a W140 !

But Sach's are the OEM supplier, so I'd fit those to maintain the designed feel.

Hi,
I have Bilsteins on my C230K, (i replaced them several years ago now) and they have MB part no's, they are black in colour with a blue inch by 2 inch badge with Bilstein written in black.

Got all four replaced with Bilstein. Do feel improvement in drive, but not as much as I had expected!
