You don't have a handbook? They are available to download.

Not 100% But I think you have to have the easy pack option to be able to fold the seats in a X218, levers are either in the top corners of the seat or near the parcel shelf latch at the back of the boot

Doesn't show in the VIN Matt , but I think the levers are as you say anyway...

Apologies just my warped sense of humour!
For the life of me I also cant find anything on how they work either!
As Ciaran has metioned it might be a case of downloadin the manual on line and hope its clear. I've never had any MB with folding seats maybe its the same mechanism as an E or C Class estate- somewhere to start anyway, loads on here have them

The rear seating comprises three seats with ergonomically shaped individual outer seats and backrests with a 1/3 2/3 split. The backrests can be released from the luggage compartment by means of handles on the D-pillar. When the backrests are released they fold down automatically and the head restraints are lowered by their own weight onto the backrests, enabling them to be folded down together with the backrests. The rear-seat backrests are fitted with three head restraints designed for optimum visibility, whereby the two outer head restraints are height- and tilt-adjustable.
