I have a 1993 W124 300TE 6cyl non-turbo diesel that has done nearly 250,000 miles. I was given a HUGE pile of service history going back to new.
Thing is, I can't find anything showing that the injectors have ever been replaced.
The car runs smoothly and the only problem I have is with cold starting, although it perhaps has less pulling power than I would expect from 3 litres. After looking through this forum, I am certain that one or more glowplugs have failed, and I therefore assume that I should replace all 6 (it seems a simple enough task). But I was wondering, should I replace the injectors as well? From reading posts, it seems quite common to introduce leaks into the high pressure fuel lines after disconnecting and reconnecting them, perhaps it is better to leave well alone? Can injectors possibly still be working well after such a mileage?
I was also wondering if the engine would need recalibration after new injectors were fitted.....
